TASC to partner with QUT Law
A recent meeting between CEO Dan Toombs, TASC Consultant Retired Supreme Court Judge Ken Mackenzie QC and various heads of QUT, including the Executive Dean of the Law Faculty Michael Lavarch have agreed to form a joint working party to instigate an initiative that in part will address the diminishing provision of legal services in rural Queensland. TASC Hosts Queensland Disability Advocacy State Conference 09
New approaches to supporting Queensland's most vulnerable people were discussed at the Combined Advocacy Groups Queensland (CAGQ) Conference in Toowoomba in July (14th & 15th). Full Circle for Gillian!
What a pleasure it was to recently appoint Gillian Mason-Johnson as a Social Worker with TASC. Gillian of course established TASC, or the Toowoomba Community Legal Service back in 1982. I have a newspaper print of Gillian dated 1983, standing shoulder to shoulder with Mark Orchard and Steve Rees, committee members then and still to this day. TASC's Sue Gordon named as National Finalist
TASC's Sue Gordon has been named as a 2009 Australian Disability Award Finalist. At the special invite of Minister Jenny Macklin and Bill Shorten MP, Sue will travel to Canberra later next month. "This is such a well-deserved nomination. Sue over many years has made such an incredible investment in the lives of countless disabled people in this state," TASC CEO Dan Toombs said.
